roothide Bootstrap on iOS 17

Install roothide Bootstrap on iOS 17.0 using TrollStore (TrollRestore).

iOS 17.0 only: TrollStore (and therefore roothide Bootstrap) is only supported on iOS 17.0 — not 17.0.1 or later. The CoreTrust bug used by TrollStore was patched in 17.0.1. Supported 17.0 builds include 21A326, 21A327, 21A329, 21A331.

iOS 17.0 Support

roothide Bootstrap supports iOS 17.0. Your device must be on one of the supported 17.0 builds (e.g. 21A326, 21A327, 21A329, 21A331). If you’re on iOS 17.0.1 or newer, TrollStore cannot be installed with current public methods, so roothide Bootstrap cannot be installed either.

Installing TrollStore on iOS 17.0 (TrollRestore)

On iOS 17.0, TrollStore is typically installed using TrollRestore, which uses a computer and a modified backup to replace a system app with a TrollStore helper.

  • Requirements: computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux), Python 3, Find My iPhone disabled, and a system app to replace (e.g. Tips).
  • Download TrollRestore from the official source (e.g. GitHub), run it, and follow the steps to replace the chosen app and install TrollStore.
  • After reboot, open the replaced app and choose “Install TrollStore”, then install a persistence helper.

For the exact steps and downloads, see the official TrollStore documentation and TrollStore & roothide Bootstrap.

iOS 17–Specific Notes

  • Bootstrap 2.0 beta: On iOS 16.0–17.0, beta builds may add SpringBoard tweak injection and launch daemon support. Check releases for beta availability.
  • Do not update to iOS 17.0.1 or later if you want to keep TrollStore and roothide Bootstrap.
